Why are Reviews Important for a Roofing Company?

There are so many ways to find a roofing company in today’s digital world with search engines, recommendation sites, and social media. Because of this, reviews are more important than ever to roofing companies.

I know, I know. We’re a roofing company, so of course, I think reviews are important. However, it’s probably not the same reason you’re thinking.

For over 30 years, Bill Ragan Roofing has helped bridge the gap between the roofing industry and homeowners. Because of this, I’ll help you understand why reviews are important to a roofing company and your fellow homeowners.

This article answers the following questions:

  • Why are reviews important for a roofing company?
  • Why should you leave a review for your roofing company?
  • How can you use reviews to hire a great roofing company?

Why are reviews important for a roofing company?

Obviously, reviews are crucial for a roofing company to attract new customers. However, reviews are just as important to a company’s reputation and customer experience.

Beside referrals, reviews are a first introduction to how a roofing company handles business. The reviews should be overwhelmingly positive if they stand behind their work, interact positively with customers, and do things the right way.

Reviews are also a great way for a company to keep track of their customers’ experiences to make it even better for the next homeowner. After all, a company can’t get better without honest feedback.

Just know that the number of reviews is something to consider when looking at potential roofers. While a higher amount gives you a larger sample size, the content of the reviews matters the most.

Why should you leave a review for your roofing company?

Reviews are great for a roofing company’s reputation and for attracting customers. However, leaving an honest review helps others in your area.

If you have a bad experience, a review helps homeowners avoid the same experience. On the other hand, leaving a good review helps a fellow homeowner make the right hiring decision.

Unfortunately, finding trustworthy roofing services can be hard. Even worse, the industry has plenty of bad apples that take advantage of homeowners.

By sharing your experience, you're helping others make informed decisions by guiding them to a reliable choice. But that’s not all; your feedback promotes a roofing company that does things right.

This significantly influences a company's growth, while also building trust within the local community.

How can you use reviews to hire a great roofing company?

The first thing you should do is a quick Google search and check out the Google reviews of the top companies in your area. I recommend going through most of the reviews, but you need to focus on the last 3-6 months to get current homeowner experiences.

Unfortunately, all the reviews you read may not be accurate. This is simply because some people take their reviews to the extreme, good or bad.

However, you’ll be able to gauge from recent reviews if a roofing contractor does quality work, stands behind it, and provides great customer service. This is especially true if most of the reviews say the same thing.

While Google is a great tool, you should also use other resources like the Better Business Bureau, “Best of” lists, and other recommendation websites like Nextdoor. Just like reviews, you need to take recommendations with a grain of salt.

Just know that you still need to do more research on potential roofing companies by going through their website to get a feel for who they are.

How do you choose the right roofing company?

At the end of the day, a roofing company’s reviews are a great way to attract new business. But while they're important for business reasons, reviews also help other homeowners and your community avoid the bad side of the roofing industry.

Whether you had a good or bad experience, leaving reviews is helpful in every way. Leaving a bad review can even be what brings your problem to the roofing company’s attention.

Just make sure you're honest and don’t exaggerate a good or bad experience. And remember to use reviews when starting your search for a reputable roofer.

However, this is one puzzle piece when trying to make the right hiring decision. There are actually steps every homeowner should take to choose and hire the right company.

The last thing you want is to get taken advantage of because you fell for a smooth-talking salesperson. That’s why I wrote another article to help you avoid this happening to you.
