How Much Does a DaVinci Roof Cost?

Print/Save as PDF

DaVinci synthetic shingle roofing is becoming more popular in residential roofing every day. But the truth is, it won't be a good fit for most homeowners.

This could be for a few reasons, but pricing is the main reason. Unfortunately, it’s hard to find accurate cost numbers. We aim to change that.

For over 30 years, the team at Bill Ragan Roofing has provided transparent roofing information to homeowners looking for the right roofing material. That’s why I’ll answer the cost question head-on.

This article answers the following questions:

  • How much does a DaVinci roof cost?
  • What impacts the cost of a DaVinci roof?
  • How does the cost of a DaVinci roof compare to the roofing material it mimics?

How much does a DaVinci roof cost?

A DaVinci roof is a premium roof system that comes in at a premium price point. This premium price point is the biggest roadblock for homeowners considering a DaVinci roof.

But before I get to the cost, just know that it’s impossible to give you an exact price without a roof inspection. This is due to the different factors that go into an estimate for a new roof.

However, I can give you a good budgeting number you’ll need for a new DaVinci roof. You can expect a DaVinci roof to cost around $14.00-$20.00 per square foot.

I understand this is an intimidating price point, and most homeowners won’t be able to afford a DaVinci roof for this reason. So, getting a DaVinci roof probably isn’t the best choice if you’re looking for affordability

However, affording a new DaVinci roof won’t be a problem if you’re also considering cedar shake or slate roofing (more on that later).

What factors impact the cost of a DaVinci roof?

Now you have an idea of how much a DaVinci roof costs. As I said, it’s impossible to give you an exact price point because of all the factors that impact the cost.

But what are these factors? Below is a list of the different factors that a roofing contractor takes into account when coming up with an estimate for a DaVinci roof:

These factors specifically depend on your roof and the roofing contractor you hire. But no matter what, a DaVinci roof is an expensive investment.

How does the cost of a DaVinci roof compare to the cost of a cedar shake or slate roof?

A DaVinci roof is designed to mimic a cedar shake or a slate roof. While they might look similar, there are some big differences.

One of these differences is the price point for a cedar shake or slate roof compared to a DaVinci roof. A DaVinci roof will always cost less than the roofing material it mimics (cedar shake or slate).

For a natural cedar shake roof, the price difference comes from the cost of materials. Natural cedar shake shingles, especially right now, are very expensive.

For a natural slate roof, the price difference comes from both the materials and labor. But you also have to worry about the weight of the slate tiles.

If your home can’t handle the weight of a slate roof, you’ll actually have to retrofit your home to hold it. This adds a huge expense to an already expensive roofing material.

So, a DaVinci roof should always be cheaper than the natural roofing material it mimics. But if you’re already considering a cedar shake or slate roof, you’ll have no problem affording a DaVinci roof.

Is a DaVinci roof worth the investment?

There you have it. Now you know how much a DaVinci roof costs, what impacts the cost, and how the pricing compares to roofing material it mimics.

As you already know, a DaVinci roof is an expensive purchase. But is getting a DaVinci roof worth the investment?

The only way to answer this is by learning as much as possible to see if it’s the right type of roofing material for you. That’s why I wrote another article breaking down the pros and cons of a DaVinci roof to help you determine if it’s worth the investment.

The team at Bill Ragan Roofing has provided high-quality roofing services to thousands of homeowners in Nashville and surrounding Middle Tennessee areas since 1990. We take pride in our work and offer a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee to back it up.
